About Shona

Working from my studio in Scotland is where I draw, paint and often create sculptural pieces. I am in love with the Scottish landscape and one of my favourite places of all time is the Isle of Skye where I have been visiting for over 20 years.

My landscape paintings are what I see and feel the Scottish countryside is  like in my head, full of dramatic weather, colour movement and atmosphere.

Living on the outskirts of Edinburgh I am also surrounded with historical architecture which I love to work through. I am fascinated with doors and the coming and going of people using them through the years incorporating them in my work brings them to light again using text or found objects relating to the area.

I also have a selection of cards taken from my original animal paintings. I try to capture the character and soul of the animal rather than a picture perfect image. If I can do that then my job has been done.
